What Makes Keystone Hatcheries Different?
- High Quality Fish: Being in the fish business for 3 generations with biologists on staff, we have developed techniques and processes that result in the healthiest fish with very high stocking survival rates.
- Reliable Service: We don’t make promises we cannot keep. If the availability of a certain size or species is iffy, we will tell you up front. Other companies will make promises and deliver the bad news on the back end. Generally (there are always exceptions) if we give you a quote, we are going to come thru.
- Good Measure: Unfortunately it is common practice in the fish stocking industry to short the customer on weight or count to sell at a lower price. If you buy 100 lbs of fathead minnows, can you tell if you got 80 or 100? As an example of our practices, we load 25 lbs of fathead minnows into a bucket at a time, but we go to 26 lbs instead to make sure the customer gets their weight.
Fish Delivery and Pickup Options
- Truck Delivery: Working together with Robinson Transport, we have a fleet of more than a dozen fish trucks that can deliver just about any size order.
- Fish Pickup: We package fish in plastic bags with oxygen for you to pick up and transport to your pond. The bags are roughly 2 cubic feet, about 2 feet long by 1 foot wide, and weigh about 20 to 25 pounds. Bags can be placed directly in vehicles if there are no sharp objects, or you can place in tubs. For a small fee we can pack bags in cardboard boxes that measure 23"x15"x13".
Fish Stocking Recommendations
We provide fish stocking strategies for initial stockings, and for improving existing populations:
General Fish Stocking Recommendations: On this page we list basic stocking strategies for ponds in the upper Midwest.
Custom Fish Stocking Recommendations: We can make a stocking recommendation and give a quote if your pond or lake is in Wisconsin or Illinois.
