Tuffies are Fathead Minnows that are raised in artificial ponds in Arkansas under very controlled conditions. Tuffies are slightly more expensive than regular Fathead Minnows, but in certain situations they may be worth the extra money.
Tuffies Advice:
If you are concerned with introducing any unwanted species along with your minnows, you may want to consider stocking Tuffies, aka Farm-raised Fathead Minnows. Also, if you are stocking minnows when the water is warm, Tuffies can better handle the conditions than regular fathead minnows.
We recommend stocking about 5 to 10 pounds per Surface Acre in new ponds without a predator population. 100 pounds plus may be necessary if you do have predators, especially Largemouth Bass. See Fathead Minnows for more information.
